.25 FTE appointment Each January, the Ford School holds its Integrated Policy Exercise (IPE), an intensive week-long school-wide policy simulation. The IPE provides students with a unique opportunity to study a current policy issue from the perspective of a particular stakeholder or policy actor in an intensive, time-pressured setting. Student teams develop in-depth policy proposals, negotiate and form coalitions with other teams, and produce a set of policy recommendations. The January 2009 IPE will focus on the proposals and negotiations for a post-Kyoto international framework for climate change policies. Two GSIs will work with Professor Whitman on all aspects of the IPE: defining the topic, researching relevant materials, identifying and interviewing decision-makers and stakeholders, compiling readings and background materials, constructing schedules/ timelines/ assignments, contacting speakers and outside experts/ participants, arranging logistics, and managing implementation of the IPE. COMPETENCIES: GSI candidates must have superior organizational skills, work well in a team setting, and have some background/interest in international political economy. |
