The Weiser Diplomacy Center is hosting a series of practice sessions for students interested in applying for the U.S. Foreign Service. We will be holding three sessions covering the three parts of the Foreign Service Oral Assessment. These sessions are also great practice for those planning to interview with other government agencies or multilateral organizations!

First, we will be simulating the "group exercise" portion of the oral assessment – it’s great practice for managing group dynamics, working under timed conditions, and excellent public speaking and presenting practice. (Learn more about the test process here). Second, we will be practicing the “structured interview” portion of the oral assessment. Third, we will be simulating the “case management” portion of the oral assessment – an “under pressure” policy writing exercise from the perspective of an FSO stationed abroad. Approximately one hour of preparation work will be required prior to each session.

At the end of each session, we will give individual feedback and points for improvement. Justin Erickson, from the Center on Finance, Law and Policy here at The Ford School, has been through the FSO process and will moderate the sessions.
