The U-M International Travel Policy applies to faculty, staff and all students traveling outside of the U.S. for university-related purposes, which may include but are not limited to study, research, internships, service, conferences/presentations, teaching, performances, or athletic competitions. The Global Michigan portal contains all relevant information regarding this policy.
All Ford School students must comply with the travel policy for all university–related travel abroad by completing the following three steps:
- Review the U-M Travel Warning and Travel Restriction Destinations list. If your travel destination is on the list, you must follow the policies and procedures for securing travel approval by the International Travel Oversight Committee.
- Register travel in the Travel Registry.
- Secure the U-M Travel Abroad Health Insurance.
Students are also strongly encouraged to use the registry and travel abroad insurance for personal travel.
In addition to information about the travel policy, the Global Michigan portal contains pre-departure checklists for individuals traveling abroad, as well as health and safety measures to consider when planning international travel.
Matriculated Ford School undergraduate students can find more information about international opportunities through the Ford School Undergraduate Advising CTools site. Ford School undergraduate students should email firstname.lastname@example.org to get permission to access this site.
