Alum Annie Maxwell (MPP '02) named White House Fellow

Annie Maxwell (MPP '02) was one of 15 announced today as 2009–2010 White House Fellows. Selection as a White House Fellow is highly competitive and based on a record of remarkable professional achievement early in one's career, evidence of leadership potential, a proven commitment to public service, and the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute successfully at the highest levels of the Federal government.

Annie is the Chief Operating Officer of Direct Relief International, a nonprofit that through humanitarian assistance improves the quality of life for people affected by poverty or disasters in 59 countries including the U.S. Annie served as chair and vice chair of the Ford School's Alumni Board. In addition to her MPP from the University of Michigan, Annie received a B.A. in English and Political Science, Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. She attended the U-M on a full athletic scholarship and was captain of the volleyball team.
