Barry Rabe quoted in New York Times article about increased climate, energy lobbying

In the article "Climate and Energy Issues Send Hordes to K Street," Barry Rabe helps explain the recent increase in climate, energy, and nuclear issue lobbying efforts.

According to the article, the number of organizations that sought the help of lobbyists increased over 20 percent from 2008 to 2009. Rabe noted that the increase was to be expected, since "In 2009, the climate sausage making was under way."

Rabe goes on to question whether this spending is necessary, noting that some industries that "benefited from provisions in the House climate bill actually decreased their lobbying expenditures in 2009."
