Richard Hall quoted in Texas Tribune, KUT about Rick Perry's chance for success in Michigan

Richard Hall was quoted in the Texas Tribune and on KUT, an Austin-based NPR station, about Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry's chance for success in Michigan.

At the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference, held on Mackinac Island from September 23-25, Perry told attendees he could help Michigan out of the Great Recession by copying the techniques he used as governor of Texas, such as tax, regulatory, and legal reforms.

While Texas and Michigan do have similar struggles—high unemployment, high poverty rates, and ailing housing markets—Hall told the Texas Tribune, "Michigan has been in bad shape for a long time … So I think Michiganders will probably be skeptical of any claims about how fewer regulations and a better tax environment is going to re-stimulate the manufacturing base in this country."
