Elisabeth Gerber appointed Jack L. Walker, Jr. Professor of Public Policy

October 2, 2012

Elisabeth Gerber was named the Jack L. Walker, Jr. Professor of Public Policy, a collegiate professorship, effective September 1, 2012.

A collegiate professorship is awarded by the Board of Regents of the University of Michigan for exceptional scholarly achievement in a field of study. It is one of the highest honors the university can bestow on a faculty member.

Gerber's research focuses on regionalism and intergovernmental cooperation, transportation policy, state and local economic policy, and political accountability. At some point in the next two years Gerber will deliver a public lecture to commemorate her appointment.

Gerber chose to have the award named after Jack L. Walker, Jr., a distinguished professor of public policy and director of the Ford School's predecessor, the Institute of Public Policy Studies, from 1974 to 1979.
