The Center for the Study of Complex Systems, The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, and the Department of Political Science will be hosting a two day conference on the Evolution of Cooperation and The Framing of Peace . This conference will focus on the past and current research of Robert Axelrod , who has made substantial contributions to all three units.

The Conference is an event initiated in 2010 to create an avenue and forum for policymakers, academics, the Pakistani community, and students interested in the country to come together and discuss the pressing events of the day, as well as to clear misconceptions surrounding Pakistan. Making Race Heard is a student-driven initiative at the University of Michigan School of Social Work that aims to bring race to the forefront of our experiences as professionals and future social workers. Despite primarily serving Detroit and surrounding areas, there was a general lack of acknowledgement around how race affects our work and so this monthly series was developed.

José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General, Organization of American States. Co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science, the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. José Miguel Insulza took office as OAS Secretary General on May 26 of 2005. A lawyer by profession Mr. Insulza has a master's in political science from the University of Michigan. Mr. Insulza was Political Advisor to the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Chile when Salvador Allende was president.
