State and local courts are where the majority of cases are adjudicated but receive the least attention. In this class we will examine the role of state and local courts in our communities. We will take a look at the roles of each person who plays a part in the process from the jury commissioner to the judge. Using the case of State of Ohio v. Goolsby, students will examine the entire trial process and how cases can result in change to state law.
