The Senior Colloquium will follow the debate that ensues from the release of the Report of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform on December 1st. The co-chairs of the Commission, Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson, issued their proposal in November and it immediately attracted fire from across the political spectrum. This class will try to make sense of the blizzard of conflicting opinion that will be put forward. The topic — focusing on the fiscal future of the country and the politics of making big changes in a world that's long on talk about change and short on being willing to pay for it — is an ideal capstone topic for the BA program.
