States enjoy enormous away over education, transportation, health care, and other policies. Politicians and interest groups that shape decisions differ in many respects to those active at the federal and local levels. In this course, students will appreciate the policy territory carved out state government, understand the physics of it policymaking, and learn about its career opportunities. Students will carry out simulations of policymaking in a mock legislature, deliberating on Gov. Snyder's plan to reinvent Michigan.
