Environmental Values in Public Policy explores the ways in which environmental values become embedded in public policy. Students will refine their own approach to environmental values through a close examination of current environmental issues and policies. They will develop skills in detecting value systems presently underlying public policy as expressed in laws, administrative regulations, and government action. Discussion and presentations by participants and by outside speakers who are professionals in the field will give insight into the challenges of meeting stakeholder expectations and forging a coherent, effective approach to environmental challenges. In addition to serving as a capstone course in the PitE curriculum, Env412/PP475 also satisfies Upper Level Writing Requirements. Taught by Rolf Bouma.
