This course is intended to serve as an introduction to the major issues of health and health care in the United States – what they are, what determines them, and how they can be altered. In so doing, the course surveys the field of public health. The course should provide a broad overview for students wishing no more than an introduction to the field, as well as good grounding for students who wish to pursue additional coursework in the subject. Cross-listed with Public Health; credit hours TBD. Public Policy BA students: Note that this is a 200-level course and does NOT count toward your 22-credit PubPol residency requirement. However, if your focus area is in Health Policy, you may use this class toward your focus area, even though it's a 200-level course.
