This is a Speical Topics course and the topic changes every new term. This will be a four week course in macroeconomic policy topics, for the United States and other countries. Slightly more than a week will be devoted to macro-fiscal strategy -- saving, investment, budget deficits, trade deficits, and foreign exchange policies. Slightly more than a week will be devoted to monetary policy strategies, with a particular focus on inflation targeting. And slightly more than a week will be devoted to dealing with the impending entitlement spending explosion, particularly for Social Security and Medicare, but also with a look at private pension policies.
