This course is designed to immerse students in a major research project of their own design. By the end of the two-semester course, students will be required to produce a polished paper, which can later be incorporated into their thesis. Students meet initially with the faculty course advisor who helps them to select a topic and an project advisor within their discipline. Students meet regularly with their project advisors and report regularly on their progress to the course advisor. Midway through the year, workshops are scheduled for students to share their progress with other students in the course and with faculty. Students are also encouraged to arrange presentations of their work-in-progress within their disciplines.

Course restricted to Ford School PhD students only.
