Anthrax scares, nuisance lawsuits and political attacks and are all in a day's work for some climate scientists. In his July 2012 feature story in Popular Science, journalist Tom Clynes investigated the people and organizations behind the harassment—and their influence on scientific research, public opinion and policy. In this lecture, Clynes will bring attendees behind the scenes of his deeply reported article, and will share some of the more entertaining (and at times absurd) moments with prominent players in the climate-science-denial community (including Senator James Inhofe, author of "The Greatest Hoax"). Tom Clynes is a contributing editor at Popular Science, and a 2010 U-M Knight Wallace Fellow. He also writes and photographs for National Geographic, Men's Journal, GQ, and other publications. See current article.Tom works with organizations that want to stimulate action and involvement. His high-intrigue, high-energy programs catalyze creativity and challenge participants to open up their thinking. Commentary provided by Andrew Hoffman, Holcim (US), Inc. Professor in Sustainable Enterprise, Professor of Natural Resources and Environment, SNRE and Professor of Management and Organizations, Stephen M Ross School of Business
