Three new faculty appointments
We were pleased to announce three new faculty appointments this past fall, including the appointment of Ambassador (Ret.) Melvyn Levitsky as Professor of International Policy and Practice at the University of Michigan. [More]

Curriculum feature: an applied approach |
As a second-year MPP student at the Ford School, John Schurrer expected to be knee-deep in data when his summer internship with Santa Barbara, California-based nonprofit Direct Relief International (DRI) began in early May. Less than three weeks later, however, John was examining the rubble left by a devastating 8.0-magnitude earthquake in China, searching for ways Direct Relief could aid in a massive humanitarian effort. In the 2007-08 academic year, the Ford School offered two practicum classes, linking MPP students with local clients to allow students to put their skills to the test with real-world policy work. [More]

Charting a Course for the Next Generation: Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund
Edelman will deliver the Ford School's 2009 Citigroup Foundation Lecture, hosted as part of the University of Michigan's 2009 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium.
