Myers, Disney recognized for outstanding contributions to the school

May 28, 2010

Chris Myers and Sharon Disney have been named recipients of the 2010 Ford School Staff Recognition Award.

The award is peer-nominated and peer-evaluated. It recognizes high standards of professional service and/or the outstanding contribution(s) of a staff member.

Myers is the school's Webmaster. His nominators note that Chris "listens to his customer, brings many ideas to the table and stays unfailingly positive and upbeat while seeing projects through to completion." His achievements over the past year include a broad expansion of the school's social networking initiatives. In addition, he developed and launched a branded video library to enable "YouTube" style browsing, sharing and embedding -- an initiative that has substantially impacted the school's visibility. The player has been loaded 198,000 times and as a direct result, visits to the Ford School website nearly doubled in a year.

Disney is an Administrative Assistant in the dean's suite. The nominations for Sharon point out that she has taken on more interim, fill-in positions at the Ford School than anyone else in recent memory -- all while continuing to complete her own job tasks. Sharon "takes the initiative to learn new skills and take on new challenges," the letter notes, "while demonstrating a can-do attitude and finding solutions to complicated problems." In addition to her regular duties, Sharon is currently filling in for the Human Resources Manager and for the Executive Assistant to the Dean.

This is the fourth year that the Ford School Staff Recognition Award has been given. Recipients must have demonstrated one or more of the following achievements: made suggestions or contributions leading to improvements in work processes and work flow; provided exemplary service to customers or the community; made exceptional contributions to cross-unit collaboration; and had a consistently positive attitude and approach to work that enhances the work environment for colleagues. Past winners serve on the evaluation committee.

Thanks and congratulations to Chris and Sharon! The Ford School community appreciates your good work.
