Thirty-five University of Michigan graduate students, including 12 from the Ford School of Public Policy have been selected to participate in the 2011-12 Nonprofit and Public Management (NPM) Center Board Fellowship Program.
After a highly competitive process, NPM's Board Fellows are placed on nonprofit governing boards for the academic year, where they participate as non-voting board members and lead high-level strategic projects. The fellowship is designed to create a cadre of professionals ready to take on future board roles and become active civic and community leaders.
The Ford School MPP students selected for 2011-12 board membership include:

- Sylvia Oh (MPP '13) at Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation
- Emily Rinner (MPP/MBA '12) at Common Ground
- Karen Spangler (MPP/MUP '13) at Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy
- Justin Tooley (MPP '12) at Alternative for Girls
- Maharshi Vaishnav (MPP '13) at Salvation Army, Washtenaw Co. Advisory Board
- Katherine Valle (MPP/MA '12) at Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan
- Anne Zerbe, (MPP '14) at Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County
The Nonprofit and Public Management Center is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Ford School, the Ross School of Business, and the School of Social Work. NPM's mission is to equip future leaders in the private, public and nonprofit sectors with interdisciplinary insight that can help them operate more effectively when working for or collaborating with nonprofit and public institutions.
