Edie Goldenberg |
Alan Deardorff has agreed to continue in his role of Associate Dean of the Ford School, but a number of other key leadership roles opened this fall as faculty concluded their terms in office.
For the Undergraduate Program, Edie Goldenberg will relieve founding director John Chamberlin, who, with others, has built a thriving undergraduate degree program here at the Ford School. A professor of political science and public policy, Edie has held many leadership roles at the University of Michigan, serving as dean of the College of Literature Science and the Arts, and director of the Ford School's predecessor Institute of Public Policy Studies. She is also founding director of the University's acclaimed Michigan in Washington Program.

Carl Simon |
Carl Simon will relieve founding co-directors Shobita Parthasarathy and Jim Duderstadt, who crafted and ably administered the University's Science, Technology, and Public Policy program through its first five years. A professor of mathematics, economics, and public policy, Carl served for ten years as director of the University's Center for the Study of Complex Systems—a group that tackles complex problems in health, the environment, international security, and other pressing areas of broad societal concern.

Kathryn Dominguez |
Kathryn Dominguez will serve as interim director of the joint PhD program in public policy and social science, relieving founding director Mary Corcoran who has shaped and stewarded the program during its first ten years. A professor of public policy and economics, Kathryn is a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Federal Reserve Bank, and has worked with USAID, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank. Brian Jacob will assume the role of director when he returns from sabbatical. An official celebration and alumni reunion to mark the tenth anniversary of this innovative program will take place at the annual APPAM conference in Washington, DC, on Thursday, November 3.
