Helen Levy interviewed by Michigan Radio on basics of health insurance exchanges

November 15, 2012
Michigan Radio interviewed Helen Levy about the basic structure of the new state health insurance exchanges established under the Affordable Care Act.

"A health insurance exchange is a marketplace designed to bring together people who want to buy insurance and companies that want to sell it to them," Levy told Michigan Radio.

When the exchanges go into effect in 2014, plans will be presented through online platforms that are familiar to consumers, Levy added.

"It's going to look something like Travelocity but for health insurance. You can scroll through the policies and see what the different premiums are. The exchanges are intended to include community rating. It's a key part of making affordable insurance available to everyone."
