Sheldon Danziger opinion featured in New York Times forum addressing the question: "Shrink Inequality to Grow the Economy?"

October 19, 2012

In response to the New York Times' Room for Debate forum question, "Shrink Inequality to Grow the Economy?," Sheldon Danziger crafted the op-ed "All Growth is not Created Equal," Sheldon Danziger, which argued that reducing inequality in America can help spur economic growth.

"For the last 40 years we have experienced a 'gilded age of inequality'," Danziger wrote. "The rich have gotten fabulously richer, while the middle class has struggled and more workers have fallen into poverty." Addressing this problem, he argued, can also help address the problem of lagging economic growth for the country as a whole.
