"Experimental Evidence on the Effect of Childhood Investments on Postsecondary Degree Attainment and Degree Completion" by Susan Dynarski and postdoctoral fellow Joshua Hyman, as well as Northwestern University associate professor Diane Whitmore Schanzenbach, has been selected to receive the Raymond Vernon Memorial Award. The Vernon Award is given to the best research paper published in the current volume of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management (JPAM), the Association of Public Policy and Analysis Management's (APPAM) flagship journal.
Dynarski and Hyman's paper examines what insights can be learned from continued research on policies and experiments from the past, and the merging of old data with newer data. The authors use these practices to enhance the understanding of the effects of early interventions on later outcomes.
The Raymond Vernon Memorial Award is handed out annually by APPAM, an organization dedicated to improving public policy and management through research, analysis, and education. The awards will be presented to the winners at the Association's 2013 Fall Research Conference being held in Washington, DC from November 7 through 9.
