Lauren Sheram (MPP '14) is among four U-M graduate students whose team, Focus Education, won the 2013 Social Impact Challenge. Teams from ten U-M graduate schools competed in the case competition, which offers U-M students the opportunity to address managerial and program challenges in the real world by collaborating with a nonprofit organization focused on social impact.

This year's objective was to develop a plan for expanding the work of Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit that prepares future leaders in education. Along with Sheram, the winning team included Nellie Tsai (MBA/MA '13), Stefana Vutova (MBA '13), and Vinita Vishwanarayan (MBA '13). A panel of education experts, including Education Pioneers CEO Scott Morgan and the Ford School's Susan Dynarski , judged the case competition. The winning team was awarded $2,500 for their recommendations.

The event is organized by the Nonprofit and Public Management Center , which is a partnership between the Ford School, the Ross School of Business, and the School of Social Work that aims to help students develop professional skills needed in the nonprofit world.
