Harvard Political Review article quotes Mary Corcoran on gender inequality in the academy

April 4, 2014

In the Harvard Political Review article, "Leaks in the Pipeline: Gender Equity in the Academy," Kaitlyn Jeong quotes Professor Mary Corcoran on gender inequality in academia.

"It's a matter of the career clock versus the biological clock," Corcoran tells Jeong. "If you can't put in the hours because of pregnancy or childcare, you can't get to the top."

Mary Corcoran is a professor of political science, public policy, and women's studies at the University of Michigan, and a faculty associate of the Center for African-American Studies, the Institute for Research on Women and Gender, and the Program on Poverty and Social Welfare Policy. Her publications include more than six-dozen scholarly articles that address a broad range of gender, racial, and socioeconomic equity issues.
