Udow-Phillips discusses Governor Whitmer's nursing home policies during COVID

April 8, 2021 WDET

As of late 2020, nursing home residents accounted for one-third of Michigan's COVID-related deaths. Marianne Udow-Phillips joined NPR Detroit to discuss her research and said that "high rates [of COVID] in nursing homes was due to the population’s vulnerability and staff coming into facilities with cases from the community,” as opposed to any single policy put forth by the Whitmer administration. Udow-Phillips added that she is hopeful "we can get away from the politicization of this issue and talk about how we can better support seniors as they age."
