Ford School announces plans for a one-year pause in MPA admissions as the school eyes potential growth in the program

August 22, 2022

The Ford School intends to pause admissions for its Master of Public Affairs program for one cycle (fall 2022)—pending approval from Rackham Graduate School—so that faculty and staff teams can devote time and resources to evaluating, optimizing, and potentially growing the degree program.

The Ford School launched its dynamic new Master of Public Affairs program in fall of 2019. The school’s outstanding, diverse first cohort of MPA students had not yet completed their studies when the global pandemic struck in March of 2020. The pandemic changed the way that the Ford School and other schools teach and learn: we made significant advances in remote and hybrid approaches to education, for example.

As a result, the school’s leadership and faculty began a strategic planning process that will continue through the fall. The school intends to optimize and expand the reach of the outstanding education and preparation that Ford School faculty can provide to the growing market for public service oriented mid-career training.

The Ford School will announce its plans for the Master of Public Affairs program in early 2023.
