No fear for Halloween candy prices - Deardorff

Alan Deardorff, The Messenger: "For decades the U.S. policy on sugar has been to protect the sugar market to keep the price above the world price," said Alan Deardorff, a professor emeritus of public policy and economics at the University of Michigan.

Of all the commodities produced in the United States, "sugar has historically been one of the most protected," Deardorff said.
