Spring Preview is a weekend designed to give newly admitted master's students all the information they need to make a decision about pursuing a Ford School master's degree. Admitted students have the opportunity to meet with Ford School faculty, students, staff, and alumni, and get a chance to visit the University of Michigan campus and city of Ann Arbor.
Causal Inference in Education Research Seminar (CIERS)
About CIERS The objective of the Causal Inference in Education Research Seminar (CIERS) is to engage students and faculty from across the university in conversations around education research using various research methodologies. This seminar provides a space for doctoral students and faculty from the School of Education, Ford School of Public Policy, and the Departments of Economics, Sociology, Statistics, and Political Science to discuss current research and receive feedback on works-in-progress.
Open to PhD students and faculty engaged in causal inference in education research, the objective of the Causal Inference in Education Research Seminar (CIERS) is to engage students and faculty from across the university in conversations around education research using various research methodologies.
Admission is free. The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan will host a special showing of Gerrymandering: The Movie. Writer/director Jeff Reichert will be present to talk about the film and answer questions. The movie addresses the issue of gerrymandering of political districts and the effects it has on the American political scene. A panel discussion including Professor of Public Policy John Chamberlin and other invited guests will take place after the screening.
The lecture will focus on the concept of access to knowledge (A2K) to explain and interrogate the current global policy debates on intellectual property rights (IPR) pitting high-income countries (HICs) against low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
