Ford School students are invited to join the Program in Practical Policy Engagement for a discussion with Kya Robertson, Detroit Deputy District 1 Manager for the Department of Neighborhoods.

About our speaker

Kya was appointed Deputy District 1 Manager by Mayor Mike Duggan in January 2017. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Toledo, a Master’s degree in public policy administration from South University of Savannah, Georgia, and is working on a doctorate in public administration. Robertson is actively involved with the Zeta Phi Beta sorority and community outreach. She has a six-year-old daughter.

The Young Leaders in Public Service series provides the opportunity for a small group of Ford School students to hear from and talk with elected officials and staff who will share their journeys, what led them to dedicating their lives to public service, and the skills that have helped them be successful.
