Key dates and deadlines for the November 8 election, plus how to register and vote.
States and communities across the United States will hold a general election on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, and the Ford School strongly encourages all eligible voters to make their voices heard.

- September 27: Ann Arbor Clerk's satellite office opens at UMMA (learn more)
- October 12: Ann Arbor Clerk's satellite office opens at Duderstadt Gallery (learn more)
- October 24 (5 p.m.): Last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk for the November election
- October 25 through November 8 (8 p.m.): In-person registration with local clerk with proof of residency
- November 4 (5 p.m.): Last day to request an absentee ballot online or by mail*
- November 8 (8 p.m.): Deadline to request and submit an absent voter ballot in person in clerk’s office; or to vote in person in the proper precinct.
Register to vote
Don’t forget to register to vote! Students who are U.S. citizens are allowed to register at either their local addresses or their permanent addresses. It’s your choice.
Register and vote in person at UMMA and the Dude
Now through election day, register to vote, request your absentee ballot, and return your absentee ballot, all in person at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) and the Duderstadt Gallery. A collaboration between the city clerk's office and the Creative Campus Voting Project, art installations at UMMA and the Dude actually embed an Ann Arbor City Clerk satellite office into them, providing nonpartisan and process-based guidance that new voters might need, sequenced to each phase of the voting process.
Registering to vote in any state
Depending on the state where you want to vote, you can either register online or by paper. Be sure to check if you are registered by going to http://bit.ly/uofmcheckreg.

Absentee voting
If you are already registered and do not want to vote in person, remember to request an absentee ballot. If you are registered to vote in Michigan, download an absentee ballot request form at https://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-1633_8716_8728-21037--,00.htm…;
*If you are requesting or returning your ballot within two weeks of election day, the Michigan Secretary of State recommends hand-delivering your ballot to avoid possible postal delays.
