About the speaker:
Dr. Dan Goldhaber is the Director of the Center for Education Data & Research and a Professor in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Bothell. He is a leading expert on k-12 teacher reform policy, including issues related to the composition, distribution, and quality of teachers in the workforce, the stability of value-added measures of teachers, the effects of teacher qualifications and quality on student achievement, and the impact of teacher pay structure and licensure on the teacher labor market.

About the event:
There is great interest in the relationship between pre-service experiences and teacher effectiveness and labor market outcomes. Dan Goldhaber's presentation focuses on new evidence connecting pre-service experiences and training on workforce entry and initial job placement, exploring whether student teaching experiences appear to influence the likelihood of employment, the time to obtaining a first teaching job, and the type (e.g. demographics, achievement level of students teachers) of classrooms to which teachers are assigned.
