Peace Corps 55th Anniversary

Join us on the Steps of the Michigan Union, where Peace Corps was born

Date & time

Oct 14, 2015, 12:00-1:00 pm EDT

Location

Steps of the Michigan Union
530 S. State St. Ann Arbor, MI 48109

Peace Corps Director Carrie Hessler-Radelet will join senior leaders, including Ford School Dean Susan M. Collins, from the University of Michigan to speak on the Steps of the Michigan Union, which was the location that, 55 years ago, then-Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students to give two years of their lives to service. Kennedy's 2 a.m. speech led to the creation of the Peace Corps.

Meet returned Peace Corps volunteers and members of the U-M and Ann Arbor communities at this one-of-a-kind anniversary celebration. You'll be inspired to make a difference around the world, like the more than 2,500 U-M graduates who have served as Peace Corps volunteers.
