Research by Susan M. Dynarski cited in article, "Is higher ed too high for Americans? Obama wants to restore U.S. to world lead in college graduates"

August 16, 2010

Research by Susan M. Dynarski was cited in an International Business Times article about the U.S. graduation rate ranking and President Obama's plan for improvement.

Though the U.S. leads the world in higher education investment, and is competitive in initial college enrollment, only about 40 percent of students graduate from college—placing the U.S. 12th in the world. One barrier to college enrollment, explored in a 2009 study by Dynarski, is the paperwork associated with financial aid. "The results," Dynarski explained in the study, "suggest that increases in educational attainment could be achieved at virtually no cost by making existing aid programs simpler and more transparent."
