Early childhood education research by Susan M. Dynarski discussed in Economist blog

October 24, 2011

Research on the impact of early childhood education by Susan M. Dynarski was examined in an Economist education blog post, "The gain from early intervention."

The post discusses Dynarski's new NBER working paper, "Experimental Evidence on the Effect of Childhood Investments on Postsecondary Attainment and Degree Completion." Dynarski and her co-authors found that investing early in a student's educational career could positively affect college enrollment and degree completion. One of the greatest effects, blogger Ryan Avent notes, is the potential to increase the chance of going to college by 11 percentage points for those with the lowest probability of post-secondary education.
