Research by Susan M. Dynarski appears in New York Times Economix blog

October 7, 2011

Research by Susan M. Dynarski was cited in the New York Times Economix blog post, "From Kindergarten to College Completion." In this story, blogger Judith Scott-Clayton discusses opinions on the most cost-effective way to increase college completion rates.

In a recent study called "Experimental Evidence on the Effect of Childhood Investments on Postsecondary Attainment and Degree Completion," Dynarski and her co-authors found that investing early in a student's educational career could affect college enrollment and degree completion. The study partnered with Tennessee's Project Star and found that children in smaller classes were 2.7 percentage points more likely to attend college and 1.6 percentage points more likely to earn a college degree.
