Dan Sheppard (MPP ’90) joined Brown & Weinraub, a government relations and consulting firm in Albany, New York as a senior advisor–returning “home” from New York City after a challenging and gratifying stint as senior vice president with the Mount Sinai Health System.

In December 2021, Joe Carrasco, Jr. (MPP ’91) was appointed associate director of the Michigan Senate Fiscal Agency.

Holly Anderson (MPP/JD ’98) left private practice in June 2019 to join the office of legal counsel at the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents, and recently was appointed acting director of the Workers’ Compensation Trust Fund. The Fund ensures that injured workers receive the medical and wage benefits they should have received from the insurance their employers failed to carry, and then seeks repayment from those employers. Beyond the nerdy cost-benefit thrill of preventing the outsourcing of negative externalities, Holly says the Trust Fund is a real lifeline for hurting people when they need it most and she loves it!

Michael Landweber’s (MPP/MA ’98) fourth novel, The Damage Done, was published by Crooked Lane Books on March 8.

Ferzana Havewala (MPP ’03) recently took the plunge and left academia for a position at Enterprise Community Partners, a national nonprofit focused on affordable housing and racial equity. She will lead the evaluation of several large scale, high impact projects that build upward economic mobility and racial equity in housing.

Rachel S. White (BA ’10) accepted a new position as a tenure track assistant professor in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department within the University of Tennessee’s College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences.

Sarah Brooks (MPP/MA ’11) and her partner Philippe welcomed their daughter, Alice-Esmée, in December, 2021. Inspired by months of listening to her parents’ conference calls, UN negotiations, and EU spokespersons, Alice-Esmée has already shown herself to be an effective advocate against crib napping. For their part, her parents have no issue using her to charm diplomats and Eurocrats alike.
