Joe Schwarz receives Student Veterans of America Lifetime Achievement Award

February 13, 2018

The Student Veterans of America at the University of Michigan (SVAUM) awarded John J.H. “Joe” Schwarz their Lifetime Achievement Award at their 10th Anniversary Benefit Dinner on January 26.

Schwarz is a U.S. Navy veteran and from 2007-2010 taught and mentored the founding leaders of Student Veterans of America, both at U-M and nationally. His support led the student veterans to create and advocate for new programs for military veterans at U-M and across the state of Michigan. Schwarz was also instrumental in advising SVA leaders on lobbying for the passage of the Post-9/11 GI Bill in 2008.

SVAUM write, “Much of this organization’s early success can be credited to Dr. Schwarz for his mentorship, and care for the young men and women who served our nation in uniform.”
