Ethan Bueno de Mesquita is professor and Deputy Dean for Faculty in the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago. He is also the director of the Center for Policy Entrepreneurship. While there has been a reasonable amount of attention given to the topic, there have been only a few rigorous efforts put forward to understand what took place. Interestingly, the understanding of what took place has shifted in certain respects from the earlier investigations.
