Partner organizations

Peace Corps students

The Ford School has partnered with a number of high profile organizations to help us connect with students who would benefit from a public policy degree. Among these partners are Teach for America, AmeriCorps, the Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA), and the U.S. Peace Corps.

At the Ford School, we recruit students who have demonstrated potential to be leaders and agents of change in a field that is evolving at unprecedented speed. We seek students who have a team-oriented approach to problem solving, who are capable of dealing with ambiguity and change, and who have a strong commitment to service.

Peace Corps

+

The Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program offers financial support to those who have served in the Peace Corps prior to enrolling in the Ford School’s Master of Public Policy program. Students who are selected as Coverdell Fellows receive fellowship assistance of at least $10,000 per year for each of their two years in the MPP program or one year in the MPA program. Coverdell Fellows are expected to participate in community service, either through an internship with an underserved community in the U.S. or by working with a local non-profit agency. All Peace Corps volunteers (current and returned) are eligible for a waiver of their application fee.

AmeriCorps

+

As a matching grant for the Segal Education Award, AmeriCorps alumni who are admitted to the Ford School Master of Public Policy program receive a tuition fellowship of at least $5,000 per year, as well as a waiver of their application fee.

Teach for America

+

Teach for America corps members who are admitted to the Ford School Master of Public Policy program are eligible for a waiver of their application fee and a fellowship grant of at least $5,000 per year.

Yellow Ribbon Program for Veterans

+

The Ford School is proud to support our veterans as a Yellow Ribbon school, offering in-state tuition to all those who serve. Applicants must apply and provide the appropriate supporting documentation. For more information, read the University of Michigan's Veteran and Military Services Program webpage. The program can also help familiarize you with the support available for student veterans and active service members, including the Post 9/11 GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program, and more.

Public Policy and International Affairs

+

Each summer, the Ford School hosts a Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) junior summer institute. PPIA alumni are eligible for a waiver of their application fee and, if admitted to our master's program, receive fellowship support of at least $5,000 per year for each year of their program.
