Matthew Davis was quoted in a UPI Health News article about a proposed change to the medical school curriculum.

Davis co-authored an article published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) that cited an Association of American Medical Colleges survey given to graduating U.S. medical students. The survey found that less than fifty percent of students felt they had been adequately educated about health care systems and the economics of practicing medicine.

In the NEJM article, Davis proposed an addition to the national curricula that addresses four areas: health care systems and principles, health care quality and safety, value and equity, and health politics and law. "Without education in health policy and the healthcare system, physicians are missing critical tools in their professional toolbox," Davis said in a statement.
