Industry and Environmental Regulation

Prerequisite: PubPol 330.

Governments around the world impose regulations, with the stated intent of improving outcomes for consumers, firms, or society broadly. This course examines real-world examples of regulations: their stated intent, their effectiveness, and their unintended consequences. Using cases from the US and other countries, we consider such outcomes as prices, safety, employment, and environmental quality.
