The main goals of this course are (1) to help you deepen your appreciation of the importance of public management in our democratic scheme of governance; (2) to enhance your ability to think analytically about problems of public management; and (3) to enhance your ability to make good arguments concerning how public management issues might be addressed in different settings. As a result of this course (combined with your own experience and skills), you should be able to recognize and define public management issues at all levels of government, to offer insightful analysis of public management issues that you encounter in practice, and to ask good questions, offer good suggestions, and make good arguments concerning how such issues might be addressed or solved.
