In exploring such questions, this course aims to provide: • Familiarity with concepts and perspectives commonly used in the study and practice of international relations and foreign policy • Familiarity with global institutions that comprise the political environment of international policy-making • Understanding of the policy process and the importance of political considerations • Analytical skills and enhanced understanding of policy analysis • Technical writing skills (emphasizing short papers, sharp organization, persuasive argument) • An opportunity to develop knowledge about several issues/problems currently on the international agenda • An opportunity to hone and test analytical skills by applying them – as part of a small group – to the analysis of one international issue
