About the speaker
Gloria Helfand has a B.A. in English Literature, an M.A. in Technology and Human Affairs, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics. Her professional career began in the nonprofit world (Natural Resources Defense Council and The Wilderness Society) before she turned to academia. After 20 years on the faculty of the University of California at Davis and the University of Michigan’s then-School of Natural Resources and Environment, she spent over 13 years with the Office of Transportation and Air Quality of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, before retiring at the end of last year. No, she still hasn’t really decided what she wants to do when she grows up.
