Michael D. Cohen Symposium

This symposium honors the scholarly legacy of Michael D. Cohen, who was the William D. Hamilton Collegiate Professor of Complex Systems, Information, and Public Policy at The University of Michigan. Michael taught at University of Michigan from 1973 until his retirement in 2012 and was a founding faculty member of the Ford School of Public Policy and the School of Information as well as the long-time co-director of ICOS (the Interdisciplinary Committee on Organization Studies). He was an influential scholar and institution builder whose ideas shaped scholarship around the globe.

The sessions speak to three domains of Michael's work: decision making and ambiguity; complexity; and routines and health care. Each session includes scholars who were Michael's collaborators, students, and friends.
