SpringFest - MUSIC Matters

Date & time

Apr 17, 2014, 10:00 am-6:00 pm EDT

Location

SpringFest is a day of festivities that is capped off with the annual MUSIC Matters concert. This year, SpringFest will be modeled after the South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX. The festivities will showcase the best of the University of Michigan and will feature a mash-up of student groups from the innovation, arts, sustainability, music and social justice communities on campus. The day will include performances from a cappella and dance groups, a product launch zone, interactive and engaging exhibits from student groups from all corners of campus, and free food from local restaurants.

We hope to have a minimum of 50 student organizations involved in SpringFest. Already, a
group of high-profile student organizations have committed to participating in a number of
different ways. The following is a list of committed organizations and their planned events:

  • MPowered: Presenting a "Shark Tank" style event where innovators and entrepreneurs pitch their start-ups to venture capitalists.

  • OptiMize: Pairing the 34 optiMize start-ups with artists to provide a side-by-side display of how students from different disciplines tackle the same social issues.

  • Michigan Sports Business Conference: Hosting a panel of experts who will discuss technology in the sports industry.

  • National Pan-Hellenic Council: Producing the championship round of their annual Step Show.
