MPP student Sara Bonner taking off a semester to help in Haiti

Sara Bonner, a first year MPP student, will go to Haiti to help with relief efforts following the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake. Bonner decided to take off the winter semester after being approached by her former employer, Tearfund, a British relief agency.

Sara spoke with the Michigan Daily, about her decision, describing the two years she spent working for Tearfund in Sudan. Sara told the Daily that when she arrives in Haiti she expects to help with water, sanitation, shelter, and hygiene issues.
