Barry Rabe quoted by ClimateWire on Nov. 6 wins, losses for environment

November 7, 2012
Professor Barry Rabe spoke with ClimateWire about victories and losses for environmentalists coming out of the November 6 elections.

Rabe pointed out that the defeat of Michigan's Proposal 3—which would shift the state's utilities toward renewable energy—failed in part due to opposition to constitutional amendments, not necessarily because of opposition to environmental measures.

Maggie Hassan's gubernatorial victory in New Hampshire, Rabe suggested, could signal renewed life for the Northeast's regional carbon trading program, known as RGGI.
