On October 14, Elisabeth Gerber spoke at a city council work session covering regional transportation initiatives. Gerber is one of two Washtenaw County representatives on the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) for southeast Michigan, which also includes Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties.
The RTA has a mandate to coordinate transportation in the four-county region and operating service in four different corridors, including Detroit-Ann Arbor. Gerber described a range of administrative tasks the board had been working on to get to a point where it can begin to complete its legislative mandate. She also provided an update on RTA plans regarding various funding sources.
